ASU Hosts 36th International Viola Congress
The ASU Herberger College School of Music welcomes viola performers, students, educators, and music enthusiasts for the 36th International Viola Congress, June 4 – 8, 2008.
Participants represent more than a dozen countries and five continents. The International Viola Congress is held annually in different location around the world. The last time it was hosted in the United States was during 2004.
The Congress features numerous performances, master classes, and lectures by leading viola performers and string pedagogues. More than 40 featured artists are scheduled to appear, including Heidi Castleman, Donald McInnes, Roland Vamos, and Kim Kashkashian, who is presenting a solo recital opening night of the Congress, June 4.
On June 6, another signature event features internationally-renown artists Paul Coletti, Hsin-Yun Huang, Paul Neubauer, and Nokuthula Ngwenyama, each performing a viola concerto or solo work with orchestra.
The June 6, 8 p.m., concerto concert is open to the public. Access for other Congress events is reserved for official registrants.
