Summer Design Workshop Opens Doors for High School Students

The College of Design at ASU is pioneering a program this summer that gives high school students an exploratory introduction into the art and science of design. Part hands-on studio and part interactive seminar, the Summer Design Workshop will teach students the fundamentals of design, and how design decisions impact the communities in which we live.

In the program, students will interact with professional architects and designers, ASU faculty, College of Design students, and high school students from other schools as they gain experience in the studio and explore a potential career path in design.

The Summer Design Workshop will take place from June 13, 2007 to June 29, 2007, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Phoenix Urban Research Laboratory (PURL) at the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus. Through the generosity of design professionals throughout the Valley, all students will receive scholarships to cover the tuition of the program.

The program will be taking applications until all spaces are filled. Please contact Tim Kniseley with any questions that you may have regarding the Summer Design Workshop. He can be reached at timothy.kniseley@asu.edu or (480) 727-9887. More information and the application are available at http://design.asu.edu/purl/summer.shtml.
