information Collected

The ASU in the Community database collects ASU community outreach program information. Screens 1 and 2 collect information about community outreach programs and are all that need to be completed in order to display your program on the ASU in the Community website.

Screen 1

 

Program Title

Title of the program

 

Location and Address

The exact location(s) where the outreach activity occurs. If program locations vary based on community requests, please include the most recent locations. Complete address information (street address, city, zip code) is required for program locations to be mapped on the interactive mapping tool.

 

Contact Name

Primary contact for the program. Will be displayed on the web site.

 

Contact Phone

Phone number for the primary contact person. Will be displayed on the web site.

 

Contact Email

Email address for the primary contact person . Will be displayed on the web site.

 

Submitter’s Name

Name of the person entering the program into the database (if different than the contact name). Communication from the database trustees will be directed to this person instead of the program contact. Will not be displayed on the web site.

 

Submitter’s Email

Email address for the program submitter. Will not be displayed on the web site.

 

Website Address

Program web site

 

Goal/Mission

Briefly describe the goal of the program and primary objective(s).

 

Brief Description

Briefly describe what the program is and what it does, specifically the benefit to the community.

 

Partners

List any organizations or foundations you work with to provide the outreach opportunity. Programs that are co-sponsored by multiple ASU departments can list the other participating ASU departments as partners.

Screen 2

 

Program Type
Program type specifies if the program has ASU student involvement or is community outreach only.

  • Community outreach only—a program conducted by ASU faculty/staff for the community. An example is the Faculty Ambassador Program.
  • Community outreach with ASU student involvement—a program conducted by ASU faculty/staff that involves ASU students in providing outreach. Examples include ASU Cares and Service Learning. If the program has an ASU student involvement component, additional screens pertaining to student involvement information will follow.
  • ASU Student involvement only—a program offered for ASU students only, such as Intramural Sports and College Councils. Programs with student involvement only are not displayed on ASU in the Community. Student involvement information will be used in the future to develop a tool that will enable students to search for outreach opportunities.

ASU Participants

Identifies the ASU participants involved in conducting the program. Participant options are:

  1. ASU faculty
  2. ASU staff
  3. ASU students (option available only for programs that have ASU student involvement)

Student Class Level

If ASU students are selected in the ASU participant’s field, specify the class level of student participants. Choices include:

  1. all levels
  2. all undergraduates
  3. freshmen
  4. sophomores
  5. juniors
  6. seniors
  7. pre-professionals
  8. professional
  9. graduate students

Primary Impact Area

The primary impact area describes the general subject category for the program. Programs are identified on the interactive mapping tool by the primary impact area. Select one.

  2. Business and Economic Development
  3. Public Policy
  4. Education
  5. Environment
  6. Health and Wellness
  7. Human Rights
  8. Technology
  9. Other

Secondary Impact Area

Secondary impact areas can be specified to further describe the program. Secondary impact areas are included in search results. For example, Ecology Explorers could have Environment as a primary impact area and education as a secondary impact area.
