Add/Update Your Program

ASU in the Community relies on ASU faculty and staff to add and maintain their community outreach program information. ASU in the Community is dynamic—changing as programs are added, updated, and inactivated. The comprehensiveness and accuracy of program information is dependent upon the faculty and staff who coordinate community outreach programs. ASU in the Community reserves the right to edit submissions. We primarily edit for clarity to ensure that the entry clearly describes the program's activities and impacts.

The database
Community outreach program information is collected in the ASU in the Community database, a university-wide database. The database is shared by ASU in the Community, Student Affairs/Student Development, and the Office of University School Partnerships. This saves you time and helps avoid repeated requests for similar information.

Programs on the web site
The following guidelines will help determine if an ASU program should be included on the web site:

  • Is the program or activity supported by ASU?
  • Is there a direct benefit to the community?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then the program should be included on the web site. This will ensure that ASU faculty, staff, students and community members can learn about the program, activity or resource. Programs can be open to the public or intended for a specific audience, can be of any size or scope, and can be located anywhere in Arizona.

There are a variety of types of programs on the web site including:

  • Recurring events such as community service events, lecture series, fairs, performances, etc.
  • Informational resources such as curriculum guides, digital gateways, campus tours, etc.
  • Legal, health, and consulting services
  • Service learning internships and other community-based internships
  • Public service research and research centers
  • Community-based support groups or book clubs
  • Facilities open to the public such as museums, planetariums, health centers, etc.
  • Professional development opportunities for community members
  • Classes and summer camps for kids and adults
  • Community service student organizations
  • Degree or certificate programs that are developed in conjunction with a community-based organization to meet a particular community need

How much time does it take to enter a program?
It should take approximately five minutes to provide information about each community outreach program. See the help links on this page to see what information is collected, how to add or update a program, and a step-by-step guide to adding and maintaining programs (illustrated with screen shots).
