Community Outreach & Advocacy for Refugees (COAR)Community Outreach & Advocacy for Refugees (COAR) is a student organization that supports locally settled refugee families in their efforts to rebuild positive, self-sufficient lives in our community. In pursuit of this mission, COAR engages in three primary activities: 1) recruit and train volunteers to provide individualized assistance to recently resettled refugees; 2) guide refugee students towards higher education; and 3) raise public awareness and advocacy of refugee issues. Creatively tapping into community networks and resources to address unmet needs in the resettlement field, COAR has grown quickly and receives tremendous support and enthusiasm from refugee clients, existing service agencies, and the community at large.Program added: Thursday, February 16, 2006 ![]()
